What does ‘Metanoia’ mean?

Metanoia is a Greek term used often in the New Testament. It refers to change and transformation in one’s life, often from a spiritual encounter.

Oh cool! So what is this?

Metanoia is an online platform and in-person community to engage in topics of public life with faith and theology. This is a broad definition: we analyse politics, music, art, identity, and other topics from a Christian perspective. This doesn’t mean we give ‘the’ opinion of all Christians or even of each other, but rather we seek to provide well thought-out engagement with culture from a worldview based on a faith in Jesus Christ.

Who are you?

Metanoia is currently managed and edited by a group of theology students based in Auckland. You can see their profiles here. We were founded by Jaimee van Gemerden and Andrew Clark-Howard in 2020.

We aim to share wide, sometimes divergent perspectives on pressing issues. With respect to this diversity of opinion, perspectives shared by both contributors and editors do not necessarily reflect the views of Metanoia as a whole nor any associated institutions or churches.

Can I get involved?

Yes! We are always look for new content and conversation partners. We seek submissions that are articulate, constructive where they are critical, push against conventional thinking, and come from a Christian worldview. You can find out more here.
